# What Telegram Premium gives you: every feature explained > What is Telegram Premium and is it worth it? Every Premium feature explained: 4 GB uploads, faster downloads, voice-to-text, no ads, translation and more. https://premium-and-stars.com/telegram-premium-features/ · English (en) · Updated: 2026-11-03 Telegram Premium is an optional subscription that removes limits and unlocks extra features. Here is everything it includes, who it is really useful for, and how to get it without paying through the app store. ## What is Telegram Premium? Telegram Premium launched in June 2022 as a paid add-on to the free messenger. Everything that was free stays free; Premium adds bigger limits, faster downloads, extra customization and tools for power users. Subscribers get a **star badge** next to their name. Premium belongs to your **account**, not to a device: once activated, it works on your phone, tablet, desktop and Telegram Web at the same time. ## Bigger files and faster downloads - **4 GB per file** — Upload documents, videos and archives up to 4 GB each. Free accounts are limited to 2 GB. - **Maximum download speed** — Premium removes the download speed cap, which matters most for large videos and files. ## Voice-to-text and real-time translation **Voice-to-text** turns voice and video messages into text with one tap — handy in meetings, on public transport or when a friend sends a five-minute voice note. **Translation** lets you translate entire chats, groups and channels as you scroll, not just single messages. ## No ads in public channels Large public channels can show sponsored messages. With Premium these ads are hidden, so your feed contains only the posts you subscribed for. ## Stickers, reactions, emoji and profile - **Custom emoji** — Use animated emoji from any pack in messages, captions and your name status. - **Exclusive stickers** — Premium stickers with full-screen effects and more reactions per message. - **Emoji status** — Show an emoji or a collectible gift next to your name instead of the star. - **Colors and covers** — Choose profile colors, a cover emoji, chat wallpapers and app icons. ## Doubled limits: free vs. Premium *Limits published by Telegram (they may change over time)* | Limit | Free | Premium | |---|---|---| | File upload size | 2 GB | 4 GB | | Channels and groups you can join | 500 | 1,000 | | Chat folders | 10 | 20 | | Chats per folder | 100 | 200 | | Pinned chats | 5 | 10 | | Accounts in one app | 3 | 4 | | Saved GIFs | 200 | 400 | | Favorite stickers | 5 | 10 | | Bio length | 70 characters | 140 characters | | Media caption length | 1,024 characters | 4,096 characters | ## Chat management and privacy - **Archive and mute new chats** from people who aren’t in your contacts — automatically. - **Choose who can message you**: for example, only contacts and Premium users. - **See read times** in private chats and the last-seen time of others even if you hide your own. - **Tags in Saved Messages** to sort notes, links and files. ## Stories features - **Stealth mode** — watch stories without appearing in the viewers list. - **Permanent view history** — see who viewed your stories even after they expire. - **Priority order** — your stories appear higher for your contacts. - More stories per day, custom expiration time and longer captions with links. ## Telegram Business tools are included Premium also unlocks **Telegram Business**: opening hours and location in your profile, greeting and away messages, quick replies, chat links with pre-filled text and the ability to connect a chatbot that answers clients for you. For freelancers and small shops this alone can justify the subscription. ## Is Telegram Premium worth it? ### Premium is worth it if you… - send or download large files and videos; - get many voice messages or read chats in other languages; - follow lots of channels and want no ads and more folders; - use Telegram for work, a business or a community. ### You can skip it if you… - only text a few friends and rarely send files; - don’t care about stickers, emoji and profile customization. > **Not sure yet?** Take **3 months** first. Premium bought as a fixed period doesn’t renew automatically, so there’s nothing to cancel later. ## How to get Telegram Premium You can subscribe in the app, receive it as a gift — or order it in our bot for yourself or a friend.
