Quick checklist
- Update Telegram to the latest version from the official store or telegram.org.
- Check that your App Store / Google Play account has a valid payment method.
- Make sure the store account’s country matches your card’s country.
- Ask your bank whether online and foreign payments are allowed on the card.
- Try again later — store payment systems sometimes have temporary failures.
“Payment failed” or the card is declined
The store couldn’t charge your card. Common reasons: the card is from a country the store doesn’t serve, the bank blocks the transaction, there isn’t enough money, or the card is expired. For example, Apple and Google don’t accept Russian bank cards, so in-app purchases fail for many users there.
Pay outside the app store: order Premium or Stars in @PremiumAndStarsMarketBot — the bot lists the payment methods available to you before payment.
“This feature is not available” / “not available in your app version”
You may see this in @PremiumBot or in the Premium screen when the app is outdated, installed from an unofficial source or when purchases are restricted on your platform or region. Update the app from the official store. If the message remains, use a bot to buy Premium as a gift for your own @username.
Store region and account issues
- Region mismatch: an App Store account from one country with a card from another often gets declined.
- Family sharing / restrictions: purchases may be blocked by parental controls or a family organizer.
- Pending payment: Google Play sometimes holds a purchase “pending” — wait or cancel it in the Play Store.
Problems paying with Stars
If a bot or channel says you don’t have enough Stars, top up the balance first. If the Stars purchase itself fails, it’s the same app store issue — top up in a bot instead and pay with the methods it offers.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Telegram say “payment failed”?
Usually the App Store, Google Play or your bank rejected the transaction — not Telegram. Check the card, the store region and your bank’s restrictions, or pay outside the app store.
Why can’t I buy Telegram Premium in my country?
App stores don’t accept cards from some countries and banks. You can still get Premium through a bot where payment happens outside the store.
Will I be charged twice if I retry?
Usually a failed payment isn’t charged. If you see a pending charge, check the store’s purchase history before retrying.
Can I buy Premium for my own account through a bot?
Yes. Enter your own @username or choose “For me” — Premium is delivered to your account as a gift.
